PSALM 141:1-4

• 1 LORD, I cry out to you; make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to you.
• 2 Let my prayer be set before you as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
• 3 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.
• 4 Do not incline my heart to any evil thing.

Our speech is very important to us. What we say is important. How we say it is important, and when and where we say it, is important. Jesus said it reveals what is going on in your heart when things evil and wicked come out of your mouth. Matthew 15:11, and Psalm 140:11: says, let not an evil speaker be established in the earth; evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

“Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man”. Matthew 15:11

Proverbs repeatedly tells us that our words can wound or heal.

• Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad. Proverbs 12:25
• A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold; In settings of silver. Proverbs 25:11
• An ungodly man digs up evil, and it is on his lips like a burning fire. Proverbs 16:27
• The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; The wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook. Proverbs 18:4
• Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal truthfully are His delight. Proverbs 12:22

The apostle Paul tells us to speak only what will benefit those who hear us. The apostle Paul should know how to speak to benefit others because, Paul have about 13 Epistle accounted to his penmanship, and they are written to the benefit of others, meaning the establishment of the churches. They were written to the churches to people, teaching them the true gospel of the word, how to love and live with others. He spoke words of help and encouragement according to the Holy Scriptures as they are written in the Bible today.

Apostle Paul, writes that Christian character is produced by the Holy Spirit, and not by self-effort. Galatians 5:22-26. With that being said to “guard your mouth” will be available to accomplish.

• 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
• 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
• 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
• 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
• 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

SEE WHAT THE PSALM OF DAVID SAYS:

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer”.
