JESUS THE PRINCE OF PEACE

In Isaiah’s prophecy about the coming Messiah, he says:

“For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6)

In a world filled with war and violence, it is Jesus who is the all-powerful God who acts in past time human history and in ours today history to be the embodiment of peace. Jesus is not speaking about physical safety and political harmony, He is not speaking of “world” peace, as I can see with my spiritual eye the “world cannot bring peace to us, the temporary happiness the world can give us only last a little while, if there were any happy moment of peace we received in the “world”, can we really say they were good moments. So, in moments of happiness in this “world” there was never peace in it. It is vanity to think that the “world” can offer peace. But in Jesus there is peace: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid”. Jesus’ peace will carry you through the storm, Jesus’ peace will walk with you when you are worried, afraid, along, sick, and all through the times when you are abandoned. Believers’ lives and none-believers’ lives is filled with trouble and trouble, and then some more trouble. Only the peace of God will bring you out. “The peace of Jesus is enough”

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1)

(Romans 5: 1) Tell us that in our sinful state, we were enemies with God “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life”. (Romans 5:8) Tell us that God demonstrated His love toward us, “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. Because of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, we are restored to a relationship of peace with God, we are now in fellowship relations to God. This is a deep, abiding peace between our hearts and God, YHWH, that cannot be taken away and this is the ultimate fulfillment of Christ work on the earth, for He is our “prince of Peace”.

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you. (John 16:7)

When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come”. (John 16:13)

Jesus Christ sacrifice provides more for us than eternal peace, it also allows us to have a relationship with God because Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit, who is our Helper whom He said would guide us into all truths. And furthermore, Holy Spirit will manifest Himself in us by having us live in ways we couldn’t possibly live on our own. Our lives are filled with love, joy, and peace by the working of Holy Spirit In and through us. (Galatians 5:22-23) tell us about Holy Spirit “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, against such things there is no law”.

God has called us to walk with one another in peace, to live with singleness of purpose with all believers, with humility, gentleness, and patience, and “being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”. (Ephesians 4:1-3) Tells us to live in the bond of peace with other believers “Therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in the manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He is the deep foundation of spiritual harmony brought about by all believer’s restoration with God by Jesus Christ finished work on the cross.
