Jesus Prayed to the Father
Christ’s prayed His high priestly prayer to the Father. As he prayed, He is asking as our high priest. As Jesus lifted up His eyes to heaven, He prayed to the Father “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him” (John 17:1-2)
Jesus Petitions to the Father on our behalf:
- That I may be glorified as the Son who has glorified the Father (Phil. 2:9-11).
- For restoration to the eternal glory. (John 17:5).
- For the safety of believers from the world and the evil one (John 17:11,15).
- For the sanctification of believers (John 17:17).
- For spiritual unity of believers (John 17:21-23).
- That the world may believe (John 17:17).
- That believers may be with Him in heaven to behold and share His glory (John 17:24).
I in them, and You in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that You has sent me, and has loved them, AS YOU HAS LOVED ME”. (John 17:23)
Jesus prayed for Unity with Himself and the Father. The saints of God is securely locked in with the Father and Son forever. And nothing can separate us from the love of God. Through Jesus prayer of uniting the saints with Father and Son, we now have the power to know and understand the love of a God who sent His only Son to a lost and doomed world.
