Everybody likes to Win, they just want to win, it makes them feel good, happy, it makes them feel like they are part of the big group that know how to push, defeat and accomplish their goals. Those of us who win occasionally think their intelligent, power, popularity, and their charisma was the secret to winning, maybe it was, or maybe it was God trying to get their attention, saying “I bless you” even thou you will not give me the credit, “I stand at the door of your heart waiting for you to say “yes Jesus I love you, come into my heart and save me. Yes Jesus I trust you to Win for me.
NO works by human hand or works of the flesh, shall make you or I a true winner, it is the God in you that gives you the victory. Yes! you will win. As followers of Jesus Christ, we all want to live a triumphant Christian life. The Bible assures us that God has given all believers victory in Jesus Christ, “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57).
1. In practical sense: how can we experience the victorious life that has been made possible in Christ? Victory ultimately belongs to the Lord our God (1 Samuel 17:47) “Then all this assemble shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands. Since the days of Israel’s Exodus from Egypt, whenever God’s people depended on Him alone, He gave them victory over their enemies. We are God’s people also, and all alone our life journey, God is giving us the victory by our Lord, Jesus the Christ. Victory in Jesus, now isn’t that good. “I Win, and You Win. (Exodus chapter 15). Old Testament prophets listened and heard the words that God spoke to them, and they would consistently point to a future Savior who would bring the fullest expression of God’s triumph: “Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9) King Jesus victorious and righteous, riding on a donkey bringing salvation to a lost world, in fact He “IS” our salvation, the lowly and meek Savior full of love, Jesus the King, Emmanuel God is with us, we are a people of God, a blessed people and having victory by victory in our Christian walk with God. We are a Victorious people whom God the Father Loved before the foundation of the world and because of that love we can walk in victory. (John 16:33) “Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”. Jesus overcame the world to set us free. Amen! in our trials and tribulation we are overcomer through the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for it was at the Cross where sin was washed away and you and I were cleansed. Jesus won the supreme victory at the cross. Sin was atoned and the power of sin and death was broken. I love the way Brother Peter puts it, “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes you were healed”. (1 Peter 2:24). Hallelujah we Win! After Jesus crucifixion and burial, He rose from the dead three days later, and now we share that victory. Satan thought he had won, when Jesus died upon the cross, but instead, Jesus death on the cross released our chains of bondage and set us free from the slavery of sin, and rebuked the supernatural powers of evil. Victory. Victory. Victory. This is what happen; “When you were dead in your sins and uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the powers and authorities of Satan, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross”. (Colossians 2:13-15).
The key to achieve victory in Jesus is faith. “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God” in (1John 5:4-5) we read, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world; our faith”. The first step to victory in Jesus is accepting Him as your savior. You receive the Lord in your heart by the grace of the Father, by your faith. And you live in victory by grace through faith. Our salvation is a gift of God’s grace, and our victory in Jesus is a gift of God’s grace. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is, the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast”. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
What is the extent of Jesus Christ’s victory that He imparts to us? The victory that Jesus shares with us includes victory over the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world” (1 John 2:16). And also our Lord triumph over sin and temptation, and that same victory has become ours as well: “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires” (Hebrews 4:15) “For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weakness, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
The most loved apostle John elaborates it this way: “And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins, has neither seen Him nor know Him. Little children, let no one deceive you He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil”. WE WIN VICTORIOUSLY.
We who are blood brought, born again children of God, Jesus has overcome Satan and the power of evil for us, and He shares the victory with us. When Jesus ascended to the Father in heaven, He promised to send the “Helper” who is the “Holy Spirit”, this is what He says, “Never the less I tell you the truth. it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the “Helper” will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you (John 16:7). Jesus, our eternal blesses hope in God, “said’: and when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. Jesus tell us who is righteous “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the powers of the enemy, nothing will harm you” Jesus took on flesh and blood and a human body to share in humanity “so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death, who is the devil. We need not to live our life in slavery by fear of death. (Hebrews 2:14-15). Christians need not fear death or the devil because we share in Jesus Christ’s victory over them. Jesus has loosed the pain of death for us. (Acts 2:24) “Whom God raised up, having loosed the pain of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it”.
As long as we remain in this fallen world, we will still have struggles to overcome and battles to fight. Sometime you will fall, but continue to get back up, and ask God to equip you with His grace and power to overcome. (2 Corinthians 12:9) The apostle Paul, Lord, says to him; “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness”. The apostle Paul, speaks of his Lord; “Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ my rest upon me”. As believers, we fight our battles in the spiritual ream, on our knees. Even though we live in the world, we do not wage war like the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world, on the contrary, our weapons have divine power to demolish strongholds in the spiritual ream. (2 Corinthians 10:3-4) “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. God has given us spiritual armor to protect us from the power of darkness that wage war against us. (Ephesians 6:10-20)
2. Victory in Jesus is real and attainable. Because our Lord Jesus has defeated Satan and every evil power of the world. We achieve victory in Jesus by resting in Christ and trusting Him to triumph for us. “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. (Matthew 11:28) While we remain on earth, the Lord reigns victorious through those who have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness and translated into His glorious kingdom of light. (1 Peter 2:9) “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”. A day is coming when the victories of Jesus will be fully realized and celebrated in the new heavens and earth. One day Jesus will swallow up death forever.. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; He will remove His people’s disgrace from all the earth.
