Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. It’s a happy time for all little children, big and small. It’s a time when love is in the air and good will toward man. It’s a time for beautiful lights, gifts to give and receive, good food, laughter with family and friends, and also giving good will to everyone along the way as you shop, window shop, singing Christmas carols. And don’t forget that old Christmas tree that the world rush to get and load it up with glittering lights. And who can forget the man they call Santa Clause, which all little children burst into joy just thinking about what he may bring them on that good old Christmas morning. You know I was a kid once upon a time, and I waited to see what Santa would bring. Making the heart merry at Christmas time is good for children. But once upon a time there was a baby born in a manger who brought joy to all men on that Faithful First Christmas morning. He was the world Christmas Gift, His name was Jesus.
Luke 1:28-33
“And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”
“And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.”
“And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.”
“And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.“
“He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David.”
“And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his Kingdom there shall be no end.”
Jesus – the name that is above all names brought the world the gift of Salvation. “Salvation belongs to the Lord. Your blessing is upon our people.” Psalms 3:8
Jesus – His name brought the world the gift of Love. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Jesus – His name brought the world the gift of Peace. “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgement and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The Zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:7
Jesus – His name brought the world the gift of Joy. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
Jesus – His name brought the world the gift of Forgiveness. “Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.” Acts 5:31
God gave us His Grace and Mercy in Jesus Christ. The Christmas gift is Jesus the Son of God who came upon the world in a midnight clear day, born in a staple as the breath of animals kept him warm. Christmas is a miracle wrapped in Love from God, He Loves the Son: for the Father has spoken and said, “Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Mark 1:11. Just think about this, the fatherly concern of God for humankind was the most gracious, needful, understanding, forgiving act that a Loving Father could have done out of kindness and love to a world of people who was lost in sin, because before it was all over “God” had to look away from His Son upon that cross in pain and agony and burden down with all the sins of the world, even yours’ and minds’. So Christmas is the time to reflect on the gift God gave to us, also we should use ever day like it is Christmas and accept the gift of Love into your heart, because today is the day to be Saved. Because Salvation is given to everyone free of charge, Jesus paid the price in full. “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. John 3:16
We must teach the children the true meaning of Christmas. Jesus love the little children, He told the disciples to let the children come unto Him. We must teach them to learn about the Bible and how God want us all to be trained up in the way of righteousness. In Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. God’s Holy Word is refreshing for the soul. “Jewels of Nuggets”.
