(Mark 4:26-29)
The meaning of the parable of the growing seed:
This parable expands on Jesus’ teaching of how the “good soil” (a receptive heart) receives the “seed” (the Word of God). In the Parable of the Growing Seed, Jesus tells a man who scatters seeding on the ground and then allows nature to take its course. As the man who sowed the seed goes about his business day by day, the seed begins to have an effect. First, the seed sprouts; then it produces a stalk and leaves, then a head of grain, and, Finally, fully developed kernels in the head. Jesus emphasizes that all of this happens without the man’s help. The man who scattered the seeds cannot even fully understand how it happen-it is simply the work of nature. “All by it self the soil produces”. (verse 28)
Sowing Seeds: Luke 8:5-16
V5. A sower went out to sow his seeds: and as he showed, some fell by the wayside, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. (There are 4 groups of people to whom these scriptures are references as the hearer.
1. The Word fell by the wayside, and it was trodden down and the fowls of the air devoured it
Word of God is a seed waiting to be planted in the hearts of man. So “a man” went out sharing the “Word” of God. Many people of all walks of life, and from many nations heard the Word: They heard the Word, These people heard the Word, they even believe it in their hearts what they heard, but when life came, and the cares of the world over took their lives, it gave the devil the opportunity to come and steal the Word out of their hearts to keep them from believing in Jesus unto salvation. The devil want to keep you out of the Kingdom of God, but he want your Soul in Hell with himself.
2. The second group is the Word fell upon a rock, and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
This group heard the Word, received the Word of God, and believe the Word with joy, but the Word did not have a chance to take root in the hearts. So in a short time, the devil come with temptations and the believer fall away from The Faith, because the Word was sowed in the heart, but it had no roots in the heart to help fight the evil of sin and temptation. Therefore the Christian will have to go into the battle without his/her armor. You can’t fight a Spiritual battle without having your Spiritual Armor. “Put on the whole Armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil”. “And taking the Helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”. (Ephesians 6:11,17)
3. The third group the Word fell among was thorns and the thorns sprang up and chocked the Word out of the believer heart. And the Word fell among thorns are believers who heard the Word and they go forth in the world and the cares of the world riches and pleasures of this life, and the believer forget to nourish their spirit with the Word so they can bring forth good fruits, therefore they had no fruits for the riches, and pleasures of life had chocked the Word out of them.
4. The fourth group the Word fell on was good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundred-fold. But the believer with a honest and good heart, heard the Word and kept it, and brought forth fruit with patience. The believer with a honest and good heart, believed the Word, had faith in the Word, and they choose to study the Word and hide it in their heart. Therefore when they walk the path of life they were able to fight the Spiritual Warfare fight because they had on the Whole Armor of God. (Ephesians 6:11-18)
When they receive the Word, they didn’t hide the Word, no, no they spoke the Word and shared God’s Word with others to bring them into salvation.
“No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light” (Luke 8:16)KJV
“Jewels of Nuggets: “Sowing and Reaping” you sow goodness and you reap the good that you sow, but be careful of the state of the heart in what you sow. “Seed Time and Harvest” you plant a seed in good ground and expect a big overflow in return. Be careful of the soil where you plant your seed.
