“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4)
The Holy Spirit is a beautiful and powerful part of God. The Holy Spirit is described in the Bible as being fully God. Along with God the Father and God the Son (Jesus Christ), God the Spirit is the third member of the Godhead, known as the Trinity. The Holy Spirit illuminates the minds of people and makes them yearn for God. The Holy Spirit reveals the truth of God’s word in the Bible and applies it to the hearts of people. Our first encounter with the Holy Spirit is when He convicts us of sin and shows us we cannot live up to the righteousness of God, and convicts man of the judgment coming to him if he should die without the salvation of Jesus Christ. (John 16:8-11). When a man repents, confess his sins and receive Jesus, the Holy Spirit regenerates the dead human spirit in the body and makes it alive to become sensitive to things of God.
The Holy Spirit can supernatural empowers born again believers by the works of the Spirit:
- The Holy Spirit Is Your Helper – Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for If I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But If I go, I will send Him to you, (John 16:7). When I think of the Holy Spirit, I see Him as God with us, Helping and empowering us to live a Christian life that radiates the goodness of God. I am in constant need of the Holy Spirit to guide me daily. As my flesh is weak and there is a tug of war between the flesh and spirit, the Holy Spirit takes control so I can be who God has called me to be. So when you are feeling powerless or tired like you want to give up on life, continue in faith because you are not alone. “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you”. (John14:18). You can start each day knowing the Holy Spirit is there to help you. He is the power that sustains, encourages you and keeps you on the right path, do not hesitate to call on Him.
- The Holy Spirit Sanctifies You – And such were some of you: but you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:11). You were set apart to be unique unto God because Sanctified means to be set apart. Believers go through the purification of sin and spiritual maturity to become more like Christ. This is a beautiful process for a believer – to leave the old behind and become a new person in Christ. It is a daily metaphors process, it takes time, that is why Christians must have patience.
- He Makes You More Like Christ – “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, Even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18). Moses experienced God’s glory on the mountain top, but we have communion with Him every day! “Moses reflected the glory of God, whenever he was in His presence, but you and I may radiate the glory of God when we fill our hearts with the word of God. And through the working of the Holy Spirit’s power in our hearts, we will be infused and illuminates the light of Jesus in our lives through the Word of God. And by the Spirit, we will become transformed to live our lives in the likeness of Jesus Christ. Then, and only then will we become more like Christ. Our goal is to be Christlikeness, and this takes place by the working power of the Holy Spirit.
- He Helps You To Do The Father’s Will – “Then the Spirit said unto Phillip, go near and join thyself to this chariot”. (Acts 8:29). Throughout the New Testament, we see how the Holy Spirit gave directions to people in many situations, for the glorification of the work of God according to the will of God.
- The Holy Spirit Gifts You For Ministry – “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the same work in all of us. A Spiritual Gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another, the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the One Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the One and only Holy Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides the gift each person should have”. (1 Corinthians 12:4-11). The Holy Spirits imparts to believers gifts that are needed in the church, nobody receives all gifts but they are distributed among the body of Christ, each person receiving different gifts. The gift or gifts you receive will empower you for the calling God has placed on your life. Embrace what God has put inside of you and be His instrument for Kingdom purpose.
- He Imparts Love – “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also, knowing that tribulations worketh patience; And patience, experience, and experience, hope, and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us”. (Roman 5:3-5). We find love in our suffering, as we endure trials, God’s love is poured out into us through the Spirit and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit carries you and me through trials and hard times. Never doubt God in your hard season, just remember the Holy Spirit is close to you in your heart, therefore God is with you.
- The Holy Spirit Gives Hope – “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope”. (Roman 15:13). Hope as God hopes. This is only possible in abundance through the power of the Holy Spirit. Hope is what carries people through trials and tribulations. Hope is the fuel for your soul.
- The Holy Spirit Teaches And Gives Insight – “But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said unto you”. (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit will give you insight into the word of God when you read the Bible, and when you study the word of God for all of your spiritual growth and for the ministering of the Gospel. Holy Spirit brings to your mind understanding and truth. Have you ever had one of those moments when you were in a situation and a scripture verse you read or memorized years ago popped into your mind encouraging you at that very moment and time, well that was Holy Spirit reminding you of a verse or scripture you have learned while studying the word of God? He empowers you with the understanding and ability to recall and remember verses in the Bible that you’ve studied so you can apply them to your life situation.
- The Holy Spirit Guides your prayers – “Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Romans 8:26). Sometimes when I pray there are no words in my mind to speak to God, I don’t know what to ask God, I don’t know where to start, But Holy Spirit is there to speak for me and He gives words to my prayer to God. So at that moment I lean into the Holy Spirit and let me lead me into my prayer. Thank God for Holy Spirit.
- He Uses You For Evangelism – “But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”. (Acts 1:8). Our whole purpose on earth is telling others about Jesus. Making disciples of others by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the most important part of our purpose unto God. Haveing Holy Spirit with us will help us to be a witness and tell others about what Jesus accomplished on the cross and how he conquered death by rising from the dead and ascending back to the Father in heaven and became victoriously over All things.
Don’t be afraid, the Bible says fear “Not”, trust Holy Spirit to lead and guide you into being the Kingdom Witness that God is calling you to become.
Well, this is another Jewel of Nuggets for The Soul. Praise the Lord!!!
